Where can I find the candidates endorsed for the local election?
You can find the candidates who have been endorsed through our Find Your Candidates tool. There you'll find a list of the candidates who are being supported by CUPE members in your community.
Where and when do I vote in the local election?
Every community has different dates for when voting starts but one important thing to remember is the last chance to vote is Saturday, October 17 – that applies to all communities in BC. The easiest way to find out when and where to vote is to search your community name and “elections” to find the official website.
How are local government endorsements decided?
Through local labour councils, union members work together to review candidates on behalf of all working people. Labour council representatives, drawn from our own locals and other unions, sit through countless interviews, meet with candidates, and ask the hard questions.
Together, they decide democratically who to recommend in the local elections, volunteering their time to help make deciding who to vote for a bit easier for all of us.
The vital services that our communities rely on are at risk if the candidates who don't value public services and the people who provide them are elected. This will hurt our local community.
That's why CUPE members, including members in your community have committed to voting for these endorsed candidates. We encourage you to join them.
Why are there no endorsed local election candidates in my area?
It may be the case that CUPE locals in your community are still reviewing candidates, or, it could also be the case that they have decided to not endorse any candidates.
If you pledge your vote, we'll make sure we send you the latest information about who has been endorsed.
Where and when do I vote in the provincial election?
Voting days and locations for provincial elections are coordinated by Elections BC. The last day to vote in the provincial election is Saturday, October 24. You can find more information here: Ways to Vote.
